Qualifications: Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience in Cultural Resources Management within a Federal land management agency. OR MA/MS Degree in Archaeology with minimum additional experience of 1 year(s)

Duties: Applies expert knowledge of cultural resources and archaeological resources in Florida to provide critical support in cultural resources management at Big Cypress National Preserve to ensure compliance with National Historic Preservation Act and to support coordination with Native American Tribes.
- In accordance with NPS policy and park needs, conduct desktop reviews, field surveys, and resource assessments to identify, document, and evaluate precontact and historic sites, structures, and cultural features within areas of potential impact. Provide determinations of NRHP eligibility (DOE), develop field methodology, prepare professional-quality technical reports, and maintain GIS and digital records to support park decision making. 45%
- Draft coordination and consultation correspondence with Native American Tribes and the State Historic Preservation Officer, and prepare presentations and materials needed for review of proposed activities by Tribes or their representatives. Document correspondence and Tribal/State responses within the NPS PEPC system to support NEPA compliance and consultation under Section 106 of the NHPA, following applicable NPS policies and procedures. Provide subject-matter expertise to park leadership by summarizing complex archaeological information, reviewing project proposals for potential cultural resource impacts, and offering recommendations to integrate cultural resource considerations into planning and compliance processes. 30%
- Work closely with Big Cypress National Preserve Management and other divisions to advance work under the Programmatic Agreement with the Seminole Tribe and the State historic Preservation Office for the Big Cypress National Preserve Back-Country Access Plan. 25%
Other: - Health and Safety Considerations: Position requires field work which may include exposure to challenging outdoor environments including extreme heat and humidity, thunderstorms, and potentially dangerous situations.
